What do you do for your day job? Wilderness Guide

What is your favourite hiking snack? Dried reindeer heart

Meet Josh - UE Founder

What do you do for your day job? Part-time Expedition Doctor, part-time Emergency Department Registrar

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Medical Director and co-founder

Where is your favourite place to visit? I love the jungle. Any jungle. The more remote the better. Asia, especially Borneo.

What's your dream expedition? A whole world overlanding trip, taking in all the beauty of every environment.

What is your favourite hiking snack? Trail Mix and Beef jerky

Meet Dan

What do you do for your day job? Good question! Something I often ask myself- a mixture of GP, out of hours, travel medicine, teaching, PHEM and I’m also the medical director for a telemedicine charity.

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I lead the Wales course and also teach on the Scotland mountain medicine course as well.

Where is your favourite place to visit? Recently I have become a huge fan of visiting the desert- its so vast and beautiful especially at night, but if I had to pick one place it would be Patagonia in South America!

What's your dream expedition? Hmmm, there are so many- I would love to explore somewhere like the Galapagos islands, and seeing as this is near Cotopaxi, perhaps I would combine the two!

What is your favourite hiking snack? I am a fan of nature valley bars but can often be found with a morale-boosting pack of Haribo or strawberry bon bons for when its cold and wet!

What do you do for your day job? A&E Doctor in London

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? UE Instructor

Where is your favourite place to visit? Honestly couldn't tell you, I've been so lucky to see so many incredible places around the world! Highlights include Raja Ampat, the Himalayas, and the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean

What's your dream expedition? Somewhere remote, beautiful and previously undiscovered that furthers scientific knowledge about the world we live in

What is your favourite hiking snack? Gotta be Oreos (delicious, plant based and they don't freeze which is always a bonus)

Meet Jonny

What do you do for your day job? Specialist Paramedic & Tayside Mountain Rescue Medical Officer

What’s your role with Unique Expeditions? Instructor & Course Director

Where is your favourite place to visit? West Coast of Scotland!

What is your dream expedition? A world tour to include Antarctic / Jungle / Mountain / Desert and Sea!

What is your favourite hiking snack? I’m always having healthy snacks but when the chips are down, morale is low, and the weather has come in… it’s gotta be the emergency Haribo

Meet Jamie

What do you do for your day job? I work as an emergency care registrar in London

What’s your role with Unique Expeditions? With experience on expeditions, in the military and working for the NHS I am a wilderness medicine instructor with a specialist interest in Polar Medicine.

Where is your favourite place to visit? I love exploring new places, although the place that will always stay in my memory is Mauritius where, after 103 days at sea I arrived with my best mate on our rowing boat and we enjoyed 2 weeks recovering and seeing a new place.

What is your dream expedition? For me an expedition is about exploring something new and facing real challenges, I would really like to see more of Africa and go from top to bottom of the continent.

What is your favourite hiking snack? has to be lindor chocolate balls, they don’t freeze in the cold and are the perfect mouthful

What do you do for your day job? ED Doctor and future GP trainee

Where is your favourite place to visit? the polar latitudes, the colder the better!

What is your dream expedition? Kite ski across Greenland. (watch this space)

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Expedition Asst / Fisherman

Where is your favourite place to visit? The Arctic

What's your dream expedition? Follow Shackleton's 1916 land voyage across South Georgia.

What is your favourite hiking snack? Reindeer jerky

Meet Bex

What do you do for your day job? I work in the emergency department near London and do a lot of event work, especially over summer with festivals and running events!

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I started off as an intern and now also do social media marketing.

Where is your favourite place to visit? I love the mountains, anywhere high up which I have had to hike to and has a good view is perfect for me!

What's your dream expedition? I would love to hike from one side of a continent to another. Most likely in South America or Nepal which involved lots of mountains!

What is your favourite hiking snack? I go weak at the knees for pick and mix, all day every day.

Meet Imo

What do you do for your day job? Medical student and working part-time as a first responder for events and the on-site medic for sports games.

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Minion and general dogs body

Where is your favourite place to visit? Anywhere new!

What's your dream expedition? Trekking through the jungle

What is your favourite hiking snack? Homemade trail mix - peanut M&Ms are a must

Meet Indie

What do you do for your day job? Medical student and Event medic

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Intern

Where is your favourite place to visit? South Devon, the southwest coast has a special place in my heart and is my favourite place to run.

What's your dream expedition? An overlanding trip across Central Asia with a fair bit of climbing and hiking thrown in.

What is your favourite hiking snack? A chocolate sandwich - a slab of chocolate in a fresh baguette!

Meet Pippa

What do you do for your day job? I am an FY1 doctor working in Bournemouth Hospital. This year I have rotations in AMU, Vascular Surgery and Gastroenterology.

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I am one of the interns and I've been working with UE for just over a year. I help out at courses and get involved with behind the scenes work, whilst being supported by UE to learn more about wilderness and expedition medicine.

Where is your favourite place to visit? I love hot places, and amazing views. I love travelling to new places, meeting new people and immersing myself in the local culture and environment. But home comforts are also important - I grew up in Shropshire so great access to Wales which will always have a soft spot for me!

What's your dream expedition? I'd love to travel to the jungle and support an expedition. I'd also really to explore South America, maybe getting involved with a journey along the Amazon. We shall see!

What is your favourite hiking snack? It would have to be the classic fruit and nut. Never beaten in my eyes.

Meet Juliet

What do you do for your day job? Medical student

What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I do administration for the Wales and Cairngorms courses, making sure everyone receives pre-course information, medical forms and course certificates.

Where is your favourite place to visit? I love going to the Peak District as it's close to home. My favourite route to walk in the Peaks is onto Kinder via Grindsbrook or Crowden Clough.

What's your dream expedition? I'd love to do a long distance kayaking expedition, maybe in Canada, wild-camping along the way.

What is your favourite hiking snack? Kendall Mint cake is my favourite emergency snack but I love Soreen malt loaf as well.
