British Indian Isles
ED Doctor required for unique British Indian Isles humanitarian deployment
Recruiting an emergency doctor, UK and USA citizens only, for a regular rotating Emergency Medicine position in the beautiful British Indian Isles. Available from 9 May 2024 ongoing. Minimum rotation duration is 8 weeks  You are invited to join a 10 strong team; ED, GP, 3 paramedics, 2 nurses, one psychiatric nurse, and 2 psychologists. The work is largely primary health and mental health care with the capability to manage critical patients prior to medevac. Medevac can take up to 72 hours to arrive. The island is a typical tropical Indian Ocean coral atoll, hot / humid with monsoon rains. The team live in concrete constructed air-conditioned accommodation approx. 20 mins from the camp. It is not an austere living site. Rooms are single and en suite.  No kit is required, the clinic is fully equipped, and we get resupply of pharmaceuticals and consumables every 6 – 8 weeks by boat. X-ray, laboratory, and dental are supported through the US military medical centre.  The project has its own unique challenges and is an amazing opportunity for the right individual. Kilimanjaro Expedition
June 24th - July 5th
Requirements: medic with altitude experience.
Role: medic for charity trip. Expenses, flights, accom, food covered. Lemosho route.
Preferable: Kilimanjaro experience

Requirements: mountain leader training/ guiding experience
Role: voluntary role assisting on a charity three peaks trek, perfect for summer ML trainees looking for leadership experience and quality mountain days.

Jordan
Dates: July 27th - August 29th
​Extreme event medic required. You will be responsible for a team who are supporting a celebrity who is attempting to break a world record running 30 marathons in 30 days in the desert, in extreme heat. The location will be remote, communications and evacuation will be primary considerations. Experienced Expedition and wilderness medics to apply for this role. It’s a paid role, rate to be discussed upon application.

FAQs
Are the roles paid?
Yes, all jobs will be paid unless specifically stated as a voluntary role. Pay will vary depending on the nature of the job, location, experience required.
What if I don't hear anything back about a job I register interest for?
We will contact you directly for an interview if we think you will suit the job. If you haven't heard from us it means we have selected another applicant. However, jobs will be advertised regularly on social media and via email, so keep applying.
Can I be on the reserve list for a job?
Yes, if you are suitable for the job we may ask if you would like to be reserve for a role. If the primary selected applicant becomes unavailable/unwell we will contact you to ask if you would like to take on the role.

How can I improve my chances of getting selected for interview?
Please ensure your UE CV is up to date with all your relevant qualifications and experience. Priority for jobs will also be given to people who we know through the courses we run, so if you're looking to attend a course, it's a great way for us to get know you.
The role says confidential, what does this mean?

Do I need to provide my own indemnity or insurance?
If you are a healthcare professional you will need to sort your own indemnity. Unique Expeditions insurance will cover ML / guide work, as well as first aiders.
